The Beth Moore Bible Study began Tuesday, January 12th at 6:30 PM and will go until March 23rd. This study will be on Esther and the books are $15.00. Please make your check payable to JUMC and put Beth Moore Study in the memo line.

District Leadership Training Day: Sunday, Feb.7th at Wesley Memorial UMC from 2 – 4:00 PM - These classes will help our new 2010 committees begin the year with some valuable training. PPRC Training – This class will look at the role of the responsibilities of this committee as outlined in the Book of Discipline and examine evaluation tools. Risk Management - This workshop led by representatives from Church Mutual Ins. will examine ways to make church buildings and the people who enter them into safer environments. Financial Concerns - This class taught by Cliff Amos will deal with issues related to the implementation of Direct Invoicing as well as consider ways to develop stewardship within the local church. Church Revitalization - Led by Vic Dingus and the Johnson City District Revitalization Team, this workshop will introduce the District Revitalization Plan as well as explore the possibilities of revitalization for local congregations. Children and families who are caught up in a life of despair caused by family breakdown or poverty need the loving care of the church and community to turn their lives around, to find their God-given potential. Lives are transformed through the ministry of Holston United Methodist Home for Children. Next Sunday, Feb. 7th, we will collect our 5th Sunday offering ( a week late due to snow ) for this special organization during our morning worship services. Thank you! Don & Barbara Bull

The Winter Session of our Wonderful Wednesday meals and programs began on January 20, 2010 and will continue for 10 weeks ending on March 24th. The Adult Bible Study will meet in the Church Sanctuary from 6:30 to 7:30 pm for an Anne Graham Lotz Bible Study, entitled “God’s Story”. This study is taken from Genesis 1-11 and it will help each of us find deeper meaning for our lives through knowing the Creator of the universe better. Mark your calendar now and plan to attend! The dinner line is open at 5:30 pm and the price is the same as our last Fall session being: $6.00 for ages 12 and up, $3.00 for 12 and under, ages 2 and under are free and the family maximum amount to be charged will be $15.00. The menu for this week is: Fried Chicken, Mashed Potatoes, Green Beans, Biscuits and a Dessert. Don’t forget to mark your green cards! Thank you, Gail Lewis

Red Bird Mission—February Missions emphasis: Begun in 1921 in a rural area of southeastern Kentucky where educational needs were not being met, Red Bird Mission has remained focused on the changing needs of the people of the area. As part of Red Bird Missionary Conference (one of three missionary conferences of the UMC in the U.S.), it now helps provide education, health and wellness services, community outreach, economic opportunity, and community housing improvements in a Christian atmosphere. The Count Your Blessings Group will have a covered dish luncheon in the main Fellowship Hall on Thursday, February 11th at 12 Noon. On Thursday, February 25th at 12:00pm, we will share fellowship together at the Mountain View Restaurant located in Limestone, TN. Please meet in the church parking lot at 11:30am.
